How about 'next/previous' buttons in the bottom left along with the page numbers? It's easier when using a touchscreen. I'm sure the old site had them, and the ones in the bottom right switch threads, which is just pointless, IMO.

can you guys tweak the colors of the individual posts for more contrast, or maybe change the color of the names (posters names) to a larger font or a different color or something? im having a hard time distinguishing between posts when im scrolling through a thread rapidly trying to find the last comment i read before this time.   maybe a button that takes you specifically to the exact last post since the last time you viewed a thread.

if possible all of the above. or give us avatars.  thats the only reason i want one, its not about having a cool picture next to my name its about being able to find the last shit i said and go from there with new replies in an efficient manner while rapidly scrolling through.

maybe a dark beveled edge around each individual post?  the issue is that in text message boxes there is no clear delineation between the individual posts, whats a quote and whats a sig. its all the same shade of gray or beige and when scrolling through its hard to tell where one post ends and the other begins. when i look at the names they are all the same color and soft rounded edgey fonts make it all blend together.  the only real separation is some people have blue dots and others have yellow.

Not only my account got reset and had to re-register, though I got PM's dating from 2001 (strange), but I really hope the forum's theme will be 99% identical to the real isonews. For some reason this forum is pain to read. Not to mention all the crappy topics everywhere which were posted by Guest's (which were previously accounts).

One a positive side; the forum is much faster loading...

Jesus Christ, could you ungrateful FAT people just give them some time, instead of inundating them with stupid requests to bend the forum to how YOU like it.
This is welfare, or a democracy. Sit down and shut the fuck up, at least until the dust settles a little.

Yes, yes, because I'm fine with letting this site get better slowly versus having stupid fucking bullshit added to the backlog of shit that still needs to be fixed, I surely must be incahoots with the site owners. Because I appreciate what they did took a HUGE fucking amount of their time, and now they may want a little time to go outisde and play, I am surely felating them all.

Fucking idiots. Why couldn't you just leave these asshats without an account?

Didnt think about on a phone actually, can't find mine to see how it looks. But its possible, but right now there are a TON of things Peng and Grinch have planned. I'm sure it can be looked into though :)

Personally, im just super happy the site is getting some love and attention. I'll throw in whatever help I can, wherever I can. I'll be making a TON of effort to get lots of firstlooks done for the site and make as many interesting articles as I can. And obviously post my usual insane crap :)

I actually quite like this theme, very readable for me. If the background orange was extended full page it would be a bit better though.

As for features, what more do you need other than to compose and edit posts, this place has always been about the humorously abusive banter.

Look you dense piece of welfare trash, my point remains. A thread about wanted changes is fan-fucking-tastic.
A thread about the 15 fucking wants YOU have, LITERALLY 7 HOURS after the new forum software went live, is more than premature.
If you can't see that, YOU are the densest human garbage I have ever hated knowing.

No one knows the plans they have for the site. BE RESPECTFUL of their hard work, and let the dust settle.
We see you are chomping at the bit, but THE REST OF US HERE HAVE JOBS.

RELAX, and let shit settle in.

And mods. Please implement NOTHING this moron has said.
He needs to learn the world isn't gimmie, gimmie, gimmie, and YOU can teach him that lesson.

ren hoek you're blowing things out of proportion. It's not uncommon to have a suggestions thread on forums after a change. As far as I could see of acme's posts, he wasn't demanding anything, he was just typing out suggestions. If he was saying "do it now do it now why arent you doing it?!" then that would be out of line

I bet you say that to all the boys.
Who needs either of you worthless, unemployed, living in your parents basement, fat, tit-having, hippies?
Not me. Don't care much for either of your opinions.

But it does go to show that both idiots with huge sense of entitlements would be here in this thread versus relaxing and letting things happen for a little while.
Both you asshats without a day of real work between you know nothing of the need to unwind after a well done project.

Don't bother yourselves to reply. Just because you don't see things my way does not mean you're in the right.

Thanks dude, I know Penguin has been super stressed during this whole thing, and has invested a lot of his own personal time into it. He really does appreciate the recognition of his hard work.
We do intend to continue to add features and improve the site, but like you said, we'll let things settle first, and shake out the bugs as people discover them.

I think what people may not recognize is that it's already a huge improvement over the broken old site...

I don't know how official this suggestion thread is as it is all flaming and no suggestions, but I will put it in here anyway.

The main thing that really bugs me and that was very functional on the previous format is the "Show unread posts since last visit" function. The layout on this page just feels very chunky and ugly with a very low sense of overview. On the old forum, everything was presented in one clean line, with the forum part on the left, then title of the thread, then extra mumbo jumbo on the right that you did not need to read anyway if I remember correctly. Here it's all bunched up together and gives you load of pointless information where it should just give you the name of the thread in my opinion.
If anyone else agrees, plz upvote, like, give me some karma etc!

On a side note though, I am giving a big NO to the whole up/down vote. As stated before, we really don't need that useless crap over here.

Not sure what was the rush with closing the "Board structure suggestion" thread so I say it here. For me iSONEWS is always been about the "PC Gaming" section but since all the gaming boards were merged together it now got pushed below the "Software / Programming", "Hardware" and "Firstlook Feedback" which I don't feel is right. "Off-topic Chat" got a nice treatment with moving it to the top and I think "PC Gaming" deserves similar treatment. With the current board structure I feel "Gaming Scene" has to be moved above the "PC Scene". Don't really see how the above mentioned rather dead boards can be above "PC Gaming".

Done.

Thanks. As a follow up I was thinking since the Movie and TV Discussion seem to be the most active boards behind the Off-Topic Chat and PC Gaming then maybe a little bump for the Media Scene too? Also at the expense of the PC Scene.

And talking about the PC Scene then maybe time to archive the Firstlook Feedback?

We intend to bring Firstlooks back (eventually when we get some development help), so it can stay.
I'm leery to move ALL the popular forums to the top, which will probably further slow down what little traffic there is in PC scene. I'll leave it as is for now, but I do appreciate the feedback.

Your eyes should adjust.

Your eyes should adjust.

At this rate I will become blind before they adjust. So this was the only change to the current design (which took months)? Great job!

We're definitely keeping the background orange and I went and ms-painted quite a few of the background images to make everything match up well.

However, I am open to changing the font color of the links/text to make it easier on the eyes. I played around with black text for the forum/category links but I wasn't sure if that was much better.

This is how the old old iSONEWS forum looked:

I have removed "News Postings" - I moved all of the threads to Off-Topic. We can re-open the section if it is deemed necessary.

I have created a "Free-for-all" sub-forum (in Off-Topic) that I feel we have needed to promote discussion without fear of over-moderation.

None of that makes any sense to me.
How about you just moderate everything lazily, like its always been?
Creating a forum where anything goes, means you'll have one forum area that is lively, while the rest of the areas go unvisited.
Quit screwing up the orange, or sell it to me, like should have happened in the first place.   ;)
