Personally I think it's a tie between Monkey Island 1 and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
-
grim fandango
-
maniac mansion, zak mckracken, monkey island 1,2,3,4, indiana jones and the temple of doom (i think thats what it was called), sam n max, day of the tentacle, full throttle. this list goes on. after contributing to the sierra thread also, one has to question where the fuck adventure games went...
-
Full Throttle.
-
Sam and Max and the Monkey Island series were the best of the graphic adventures. I really enjoyed Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. And of course, X-Wing and TIE Fighter consumed more time than any game ever has for me.
-
TIE FIGHTER HURRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Seriously, that game was awesome. You got to like join a secret order and blow up X-Wings.
-
pick a monkey island game 1-3
4 was good but not as good as the others because you couldn't use the mouse
btw I liked fate of atlantis, jk 2, rebel assault 1 and grim fandango but monkey island is by far the best, yaaaarrrr!!
orlando bloom's character from pirates of the caribbean reminded me of guybrush but orlando was more annoying in a bad way and i wanted him to die.. but his cheesy last line "I'm a pirate!" was sooo Guybrush Threepwood. :D
-
full throttle, grim fandango and monkey island.
-
Grim Fandango is great. What an original game.
-
Sam and Max
-
maniac manson 1 or monkey island 1/2
-
Day Of The Tentacle.
-
Zak McKraken and the alien mindbenders!
-

I enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean because it was like it was from the Monkey Island universe.
Lucasarts couldn't go wrong back then. I still remember loading up Maniac Mansion on the C64 for the first time. Day of the Tenticle upped the ante when that came out as well. Indiana Jones, The Dig (which I thought was underrated)..
I guess there's not much money to be had in 2D adventure games anymore.. :(
-
dark forces back in teh day
-
Full Throttle.
I will totally and fully agree on that. I still have a Full Throttle disc on my CD rack.
The runner up on my pick list would have to be Dark Forces.
-
monkey island 2, loom, or orignial tie fighter.
-
I have to say Indiana Jones : fate of atlantis is one of the greates adventure game of all time, First version I had was entirly in germany so I was sitting with a dictionnary and trensalting EACH dialog...now that was fun :)
-
Easy! Dott!
-
Ballblazer!
-
rebel assault...haha
-
doh, i mixed up rebel assault with rebellion.
dott, xwing v tie fighter, full throttle, and sam and max. hopefully the new sam and max, and full throttle games dont suck.
-
for me it's a tie between Tie Fighter and DOTT, both were addictive in their own ways
-
The indiana jones series.. Though when I was a kid, I played through the holy grail one. I saved my game, and picked EVERY GOD DAMN GRAIL there, and they all killed me when I drank from them.. What the hell was I doing wrong??
-
rebel assault was fun in its time... the best moment playing was the first time you got to the level where you had to fire at all the turrets and towers on the large destroyer or whatever it was
-
Those rebel assault games were awesome...remember in RA2 when he JUST escapes from the hangar with a corellian transport while stormtroopers are firing at him in? Classic!
Combined arcade shooting and space sim, fun game.
-
My favorite mission in TIE Fighter is the one where you serve as the escort for Darth Vader. Sure the mission wasn't the best overall, but how fucking cool is it to fly with one of the badasses of cinema?
-
Monkey Island 2
-
Monkey Island 2 and Sam and Max were the best games ever.
I never got the talkie version of Monkey 2 tho.
-
Rescue on FRACTALUS!!
Seriously though, DOTT is the best.
-
Rescue on FRACTALUS!!
I was waiting for someone to mention that one... :)
-
i think sam'n'max just pipped dott.. but for the time x-wing and tie fighter were just incredable.. really imersive games for the days way before gfx cards etc etc..
tie fighter was a job well done... and to this day is still one of the most polished games..
-
Grim Fandango is great. What an original game.
It is indeed the best Adventure I've ever played...
Grim Fandango rules...
Also loved the Monkey Island series :)
-
Grim Fandango gets my vote. Full throttle gets a close second...
-
EDIT: Whoops, double post and cant delete it.
-
why do you even ask? it's sam & max offcourse, no doubt about it...best game ever made, hope that the sequel will be as good as the original
-

Didn't you see the movie? It was the plain one, ya stupid mother fucker!
-
grim fandango
-
I'm hesitating between Day of tentacle and the Monkey Island series (at least the first 2 episodes)...

I don't understand why so many people like DOTT that much. I loved the Monkey Islands (1-3.. didn't care too much for 4), and played them all straight thru, but I never got that into DOTT.
-
i just discovered ScummVM and am enjoying them all again without the blockiness...i've come to the conclusion that all the lucasart adventures rule equally...except for sam&max who are, offcourse, king...king amongst kings
can't wait for the sequel, seems like the first good game in years, 3D and it seems like it still has the oldschool-atmos, which i find stunning

Well, 3 chars to manage, humorous situations, dialogs & plot, nice sounds&voices (delightful purple tentacle), funny (temporal) puzzles... most adventure games look dull when comparing to DOTT.
Sure, Monkey Island is a great serie (at least the first 2, didn't like that much the cartoon and the 3D version) and anyway it's just a matter of taste, isn't it?
-
best story ever goes to grim fandango
MI series was okay but story kinda pointless its just fine
classis goes to sam and max and dott, those ones own, cant wait until sam2 and throttle, lucas games are the only games i ever buy
and dont forget darkforces, one of my fav fps of all time
-
Probably dating myself with this, but I always thought The Eidolon (http://www.zzap64.co.uk/zzap10/eidolon.html) was LucasArts's (or Lucasfilm, as they were called then) most original release...

full throttle 2 has been cancelled... but looking at the direction that they were taking it (console) this could be a good thing...
-
When did this happen? I guess I am relieved, I would hate to see LucasArts tarnage the legacy of such a great game with a shitty sequel.
-
Fractalus! aaarrgh, my elder brother used to terrify me with that game. Every time a green alien appeared at the wind screen I couldn't help fleeing with screams ! :) (i was 5 at that time)
-
THE DIG!
-
*lol* The Eidolon - I waisted hours on that one trying to figure out WTF I had to do :) Those were the C64 days and I never had any manual...
I always loved The Dig for its terrific music and atmosphere, that's really a great one and though I played it a loooong time ago I still remember everything about it. I guess that's the only adventure I walked through several times just because I liked the presentation so much.
But I guess the original X-Wing series and the Tie-Fighter follow up are the games that burned most of my time. I was an addict. So I vote for them :)
Actually X-Wing was the first(!) game I ever played (and bought) on a PC. I was still used to my C64 (skipped Atari ST and Amiga) and my eyes were popping out when I saw it...
-
that mission where you fly with darth vader right at the end of the game where the empire is splitting in 2 and you and darthy must personally defend emperor palpatine's shuttle In the brand new sleek TIE DEFENDER. yeah TIE FIGHTER IS WAS AND WILL BE the greatest game EVER made! it got a 96% in pcgamer and only civilization got a higher score 97%. Tie fighter also had a custom mission builder that me and my bro alway used, we would make a mission with 5 Star destroyers, and 5 calamari cruisers fighting each other , throw in like 10 frigates and corvettes, and then 8 fighter Squads and pick a imperial one to fly on, god that games was the best. No space combat game ever has come close (although tachyon:the fringe was kick ass).
-
Monkey Island series, Full Throttle with voices and Day of the Tentacle without a doubt.
The Dig however, is, was and always will be regarded in my mind as the biggest piece of shit that was ever called a graphice adventure. The beginning was awesome, the game itself was beyond shit.
-
Greatest lucasarts game = Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
-
Monkey Island 1 & 2, original version.
Speaker sound.
-
Yeah, THE DIG!!!
It's a spielberg directed game, it's amazing! Still worth playing on todays computers, by Lucasarts.
-
Day of the tentacle, hands down.
-
zak mckracken of course !!!
-
Anyone remember Loom??
The story was beautiful, the music thing was amazing.
The MI series, especially the first two.
S&M, MM & DOTT where great.
-
Star Wars....... GALAXIES.. Yes SWG is the best lucas arts game I have ever played if not the Best game overall I have ever played. Yes the game has plenty of bugs to work out but overall its a great mmorpg by lucas arts/soe and i havent touched another game since I bought it.
-
Monkey island 1 for life ! Really, i cant count how many times this game made me laff.
I think the introduction of Murray the demonic skull in part 3 is brilliant though... Stan the man is also great..
Very nostalgic feeling when hearing that grip-ya-by-the-throat-and-shiver-yer-groggy-timbers tube.
Lovin it
-
for me the best LucasArts game are DOTT, Fate of Atlantis,Grim Fandango
the best Starwars game will be Tie FIghter ,Xwing, Jedi Knight.
too bad LA don't make adv game anymore.
-
Monkey Island 2 and Sam and Max were the best games ever.
I never got the talkie version of Monkey 2 tho.
IIRC Monkey 2 dont had talkie at all.
-
Indiana Jones And The Fate of Atlantis for me.
-
dont forget the old western game outlaw guys that was i nice game too hehe
-

yeah 2 bad there isn`t a second episode of this great game, had a lot of fun in LAN party`s
-
For me... the ENTIRE Monkey Island series (although the latest one was a bit of a lackluster), Sam & Max, Full Throttle, and of course Grim Fandango.
-
Monkey Island series. Hands down!
-
Knights Of The Old Republic deserves to be mentioned here.
-
I'm still sticking to Monkey Island... I mean, come on! Monkeys (even a 3-headed one!), pirates, grog, and humour all in 1 game!
-

Monkeys and grog really is a winning combination.
-
Full Throttle.
This is the motorcycle game, right? I've only played the demo, but I loved it.
-

Well actually there's only one small part of the game where you actually get to ride the bikes, but that's a pretty damn sweet section if you ask me.

Ok, so this is the game I thought it was. I got it packaged as a demo with some Star Wars game. I think it might have been from the stormtroopers POV? I don't remember.
I know I really enjoyed the game, and the hardest part for me to figure out was the dog in the junk yard.
I wish I had the full version of that game.
-
day of the tentacle is my favorite one.
i also liked monkey island (1, 2), indiana jones (last crusade, fate of atlantis), zak mckracken, sam&max and grim fandango.
-
Grim Fandango is great. What an original game.
couldnt agree more :D
-
TIE FIGHTER HURRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Seriously, that game was awesome. You got to like join a secret order and blow up X-Wings.
The mission when you got betrayed is one of those holy shit moments in the history of gaming.
-
Loom.
Try it if you haven't, on SCUMMVM. Plays and looks great even 20 years later. You can beat it in one afternoon.
-
Monkey island 2 and Fate of atlantis - stop
-
Ballblazer!
-
Definitely Loom, but the steam port doesn't do it justice, I feel it deserves a remake that combines the best aspects of both worlds - the ambient music from fmtowns and the talkie dialogue from the cdrom.
