Since I see these questions asked repeatedly, I decided to put together a FAQ for the lazy.  If I've missed any terms, reply with them and their meanings for the newbies.

*LIMITED* - shown in fewer than 500 theaters.
*STV* - straight to video
*DUPE* - duplicate; already been ripped
*BAD FPS* - does not follow the scene standard ~24fps
*SE* - special edition dvd
*RERIP* - same movie ripped again
*INTERLACED* - http://www.adobe.com/support/techguides/premiere/prmr_interlace/main.html.  picture will appear wavy to the trained eye.
*BAD IVTC* - IVTC (inverse telecine) is the process of converting a 30fps movie into 24fps to save space.  picture will appear jerky to the trained eye.
*PROPER* - a previous release of this movie was poor and this one is supposedly better.
*REPACK* - repacked
*NUKE* - there are two different types of nuking.  the first is site specific.  a site will nuke a release if it does not comply with their rules.  the other is a global nuke (meaning most every site nukes it) when a release is a DUPE or has something wrong with it.
*DC* - director's cut

just 2 additions, trying to help out ;)

*BAD AR* Incorrect Aspect Ratio
*INTERNAL* Can be a rip of a film done by another crew, or "below usual standards" and designed to be kept within the group, or not traded for creds

And one correction:

*DC* means Director's Cut, or at least it has with every *DC* tagged release I've ever watched.

That's correct. Director's Commentary is usually just noted as 'with Commentary'.

03/29/2002       Nightstone *WON RACE* FairLight [xx/21]
03/29/2002       Nightstone *LOST RACE* DEViANCE [xx/27]

So that would mean fairlight got it released first but just barely before deviance right? never seen this kind before so im assuming that

no, it means that both released very close, but Fairlight had a better distribution system, and most people already had Fairlight while they still were getting deviance.

it can be that the one that releases much later (10 minutes) still gets to win a race.
