As a side note, thank you Grinch, Shwaggy, Penguin and the rest of the team (if I missed anyone) for giving us a couple of extra years for our nostalgia's sake. Oh, and a big fuck you to JayRoe and Isoleeted, while I'm at it. What a giant, smelly orange turd that was.

Yeah, that schism came at a bad time when we were trying to bring the site onto the new platform.. It took away some active posters for whatever reason, and a number of times we tried of get Jayroe to come onboard and merge the sites, but he refused. It's too bad, and I'm not sure that it would have changed much long term, but it definitely split the community apart a little.
I'll keep pratce

IS. Not was.
So there. Apparently it will still be around when this place falls.
Although it's beyond dead there too.

Maybe we should install a "last post" meter to embarrass them for not contributing more often.

The community for isonews was so strong back in the days.
The old time conccurent site (nforce/nfohump) is still going strong, so it is not just about reddit killing forums.

Y'but...the scene itself has dried up. Why not focus on something more relevant to stay current.

Guys, do you have any clue what killed the fucking forum?
I'll tell you, it's all about the chat!!!
This is now where cool, wise and enlightening exchanges take place, involving our best old school forum members that know real good shit about da scene.
No wonder there are no new post anywhere.

Just check by yourself:
KiloByte [06:18 PM (Mar 05)]:   has anyone reached out to krazy8 or orm? we should seek their advice before we make any radical decisions about the site
copeland [10:46 PM (Mar 05)]:   We have Shwaggy...and as long as he does as told we dont need them others...
copeland [10:47 PM (Mar 05)]:   Next you'll be saying Fro was more than dick sucking lameass...
KiloByte [03:38 AM (Mar 06)]:   who knows, they might have some nifty ideas about returning this site to its former glory
venom4911 [06:01 PM (Mar 06)]:   hi cutie
Garmar [06:26 PM (Mar 06)]:   krazy8 is too angry that we never donated to his cig fund when he was in prision
Ren-Hoek [04:10 AM (Mar 07)]:   You all are idiots. Let's check with non active members with no interest in helping a dead (not dying, dead) site. Yay! Then let's ask other newbs that haven't logged in in a decade what they think. Yeah! Then let's ask dipshits that have never been in the scene if they think the scene is still active. Yes! Jesus. Is every one of you retarded? The LAST chance for fixing this site was 2-3 years ago when Shwaggy bought it, and then did absolutely nothing fucking with it. There are no other chances, there is no saving it, it's just a matter of WHEN to pull the plug. Not IF. When.
copeland [05:21 AM (Mar 07)]:   Ren, you have a negative outlook on life. Its all about perspective man. Shwaggy coulda shut this place down. But he hasn't
Ren-Hoek [05:57 AM (Mar 07)]:   And you know nothing. You took a decade off and then come back with pom-poms out cheering that it can be saved. WE, (the faithful) watched it die. Long ago. YEARS ago. You are blubbering about shit you know nothing about, both in reference to the site, to the scene and to everything else. Quit being an idiot.
Ren-Hoek [05:58 AM (Mar 07)]:   YOU and your kind killed this place not me. Getting sick of you dipshits coming back after the bombs have been launched lauding "there must be a way!". Yeah, there was. Back when you stopped coming here regularly.
Ren-Hoek [06:01 AM (Mar 07)]:   There are only a handful of people that should have any input into this and while it doesn't include me, at least I've been faithful if nothing else. But it and MOST CERTAINLY doesn't include you.
razor [04:32 PM (Mar 07)]:   poop
KiloByte [08:07 PM (Mar 07)]:   you've been faithful at being a pompous douche bag with stick up your ass. eat shit, moron.
venom4911 [11:55 PM (Mar 07)]:   lick his butt
Ren-Hoek [07:05 AM (Mar 08)]:   Says the moron who just fucking suggested asking orm or K8 if they had any ideas to bring the site back to life. WHat a god damned fucking marooooooooooon. Jesus.
KiloByte [07:23 AM (Mar 08)]:   They built this site, retard.
Dr_Grinch [05:56 AM (Mar 09)]:   K8 and Mandarin built it along with Orm. Orm hasn't been active in... 9 years?
Dr_Grinch [05:56 AM (Mar 09)]:   Mandarin sold it to the guy who ran it into the ground (Mushroom)
Dr_Grinch [05:56 AM (Mar 09)]:   That dude sold it to me and Shwaggy. I brokered the deal myself.
Dr_Grinch [05:56 AM (Mar 09)]:   Penguin is the longest running Admin by far
Dr_Grinch [05:57 AM (Mar 09)]:   And we didn't do nothing, we migrated off the hella broken vBS to this platform which is still supported/current
Dr_Grinch [05:58 AM (Mar 09)]:   But we don't have the coding skills to create a new front end for it. We have been asking the dwindling community for help for 3+ years. Nobody offered.
Ren-Hoek [07:09 AM (Mar 09)]:   I don't think you can say nobody offered. I know I did. I've seen others offer. The trouble is no one with the needed skills offered.
Ren-Hoek [07:12 AM (Mar 09)]:   But no, we should all listen to these moronic suggestions that there is hope. Because certainly kilobitch and a couple other people who obviously haven't been paying attention and know even less have a pretty good sense of the situation. Jesus.
Ren-Hoek [07:14 AM (Mar 09)]:   Anyway. Grinch and Shwaggy, you've had a good run. You boarded a sinking ship and bailed as best you could. PM me your email addy's and I'll paypal you each $5 to buy you a beer.
venom4911 [11:39 PM (Mar 09)]:   http://youtu.be/jGjBoHKpuvg
Suli [01:48 AM (Mar 10)]:   You cheap fuck, you owe them both at least a two four for having to read all of your constant screaming about how shitty everything is lol...... as Razor says, STFU.  ???
Ren-Hoek [07:13 AM (Mar 10)]:   Who the fuck is this guy? Jesus what an idiot.
Ren-Hoek [07:15 AM (Mar 10)]:   Suli, when venom wants to hear you be a little bitch, he'll take his gross dick out of your mouth.
Ren-Hoek [07:18 AM (Mar 10)]:   Worst part? Suli is too new to actually get this reference. Jump on the hate train with the rest of them, dipshit. You're at the back though.

Will be sad to see this place go... I can't say I helped keep it alive though :/

Thanks for stepping up and keeping it alive boys.

How large is the DB? If you end up sunsetting the site, can you put it up somewhere (minus user account info and PMs)?

It costs around $300/year in server fees and domain hosting costs. That's the big secret, which isn't a secret at all.

This is almost literally nothing. We could crowd source this in a single day - why don't we simply pick a day and do so?
