I went with the Steam preload files which appeared much earlier, then I grabbed a Steam unlocker not long ago and then the crack from Codex, and it worked like a charm (except for a minor issue with the decryption key for one of the Steam files, but I managed to get it to work).

Been playing for about an hour or so now, maybe two, but I've been taking it soooo damn slowly for some reason. Feels like a good Fallout so far though. Combat felt a lot more hectic and chaotic though, not sure if I like that too much yet, but I guess it just takes some getting use to. Field of view seems pretty narrow too, which makes looting and exploring small houses feel a bit claustrophobic. I'm sure all it takes is a FOV 90 command in the console to fix that. The launcher recommended Ultra settings on everything, but I suspect that's for 1080p. At 1440p, I get a few hitches every now and then, dropping down to like 35 - 40 fps, but nothing major and otherwise a stable 60 throughout.

How to make Fallout 4 PC not feel like shit

Fix an otherwise amazing game. INIs are located in C:\Users\{YOUR NAME}\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\


Problem 1: Mouse aiming feels like shit because of mouse acceleration

Open both Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini
In the [Controls] section of both files, add this line:
bMouseAcceleration=0

Problem 2: Mouse aiming still feels like shit because vertical sensitivity is half as much as horizontal (seriously Bethesda?)

Open Fallout4.ini
In the [Controls] section, find fMouseHeadingXScale
On the next line, make fMouseHeadingYScale 2x the amount of fMouseHeadingXScale

Problem 3: The FOV is locked at 70/80 because you're playing this on a couch from 8 feet away with a controller, right? Oh, you aren't?

Open both Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini
In the [Display] section of both files, add the following lines:
fDefaultWorldFOV=90
fDefault1stPersonFOV=90
90 is the default FOV of most FPS games, but you can change that to whatever makes you happy

Any words on the abysmal performance in some indoor places?
For some reason I get a really shitty framerate inside some houses that require loading to transfer to, even though the location itself is really small. I get a constant 60 otherwise.

I played that game - and I couldn't get over the feeling of deja vous.  They basically took fallout 3, changed a few names/missions and renamed it to fallout 4.  Lazy corporate scum
