So I just moved into a place above a library. The major ISP in the area reneged on hooking me up with high speed because they can't get in past the library. That leaves me stuck with having to order 2.5mb adsl at a similar cost to their high speed packages while waiting in vain for fibre to reach the area. I absolutely grudge that.
In the mean time I want to use the library's WIFI. The only place I can get a decent signal for it is at my front door which isn't very comfortable, so I'm looking to extend the wifi signal with some hardware. The only problem is, the public library connection requires a web page login once connected. Ideally I'd like to plump for an ASUS router / wifi broadcaster as I know I'll get good use out of it in the future, but I have no idea if this is possible. Can wifi routers still connect to the signal and then you can log in from another device? As they have different IPs I would imagine no.
If that's not possible could a little wifi repeater work? Do they even appear as a device to routers or are they purely relays?
