The 500GB Samsung EVO SSD is the best price/performance/capacity SSD right now but yeah noticed the Crucial MX100 has snuck in there now offering a little less performance BUT better value. If you can afford it, the Samsung 1Tb EVO is the absolute best!

techreport.com.. they just updated the list with the new Samsung 850 Pro SSD coming out in a couple of weeks now..

Clearly the new Samsung 850 Pro SS blows everyone off but the EVO and MX100s are way better value verses performance verse capacity.

I have a shitty (by 2014 standards...)  128GB Toshiba SSD for my OS and a 2TB storage drive for games/media.  Even with my shit SSD boot times are still 2-3 seconds top and programs load almost instantly, I could never go back to a regular HDD.

I have a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB as my boot drive (windows and some software) and a Cruscial M500 256GB as a "games" drive (amazon black friday, 80$). Plus the 2TB hard drive for most programs and games and photos. External drives for more photos, videos, tv series, movies and backups (2x2TB, 3TB, 1,5TB and 500GB).

And that's it. HDDs for me mean storage space and less critical software and gaming. My Windows 8.1, after a year of use, boots in 7 seconds. There's no way I would buy a new PC or laptop without a SSD.
