UK resident, buying GFX card in the US, smart?

Hello,
I have a dilemma,
I want t get a new GFX card (probably the Nvidia GTX 770) and a good friend of mine is going to be in the US so I can ask her to bring me one, the price difference is massive, around £260 in the US (new Egg) vs £360 in the UK - for the same cards.

However, MSI or GigaByte won't provide a UK warranty or service in the UK for a card that was bought in the US and would ask me to send it to the retailer... Which can obviously be costly... O the other hand, only once did I get a bad GFX card, that I had to return...

My friend won't be able to test the card.

Not sure what to do, what do you think?

Tell your friend to buy the card in the U.S. I've never had a video card fail on me.

I tend to agree, but the card originally has 3 years warranty and I'm worried about a fan failure (for example) in a year or two...
what do I do then?

Don't buy, keep an eye on this site you can get the price difference down to £30-40.

Thanks for the advice.

Hot deals is still expensive and has deals at Dabs and the like, which I don't consider proper service.
I've also decided to go for the 4GB version of the 770  - which is £355 in the UK and £260 in the US...

I think I may have found a solution, apparently EVGA has a global warranty so if I get their card I'm sorted. My next problem is to find a US GFX site that accepts international (European) credit cards and would ship to my friends address in the US... apparently New-egg don't accept foreign cards...

EDIT: apparently Amazon US has no problems, card ordered @ £288

Even without the warranty, it would be a nice deal. Just think that that 100£ are a deposit for the next GPU.

Also, smart choice about the 4GB version. 3+GB is gonna be a must soon, with the new generation of games coming with XBone and PS4.
