Damn I want this now.

I've got an old dusty x360 phat (first gen xenon) - I couldn't care less about playing online with it but I was thinking about flashing it and giving this game a try.  Don't gotta hold my hand but anyone feel like giving me a nudge in the right direction for an up to date how-to guide? Seems like there is a lot of outdated info out there.

Bustanut took the words out of my mouth. I don't have an XBox Live Gold account and I have no plans on getting one. I am seriously considering modding mine too just to play this game, especially with the new generation of consoles coming out sooner than later.

Haha yeah I'm on the same line. Started looking into flashing my old, first generation xbox a few days ago, but it seems like quite the operation. Does anyone know if it is possible to do without getting all these external gadgets that I've seen other people use?

Apparently if your first gen has the Samsung drive you just need to flash it and yer good to go.

I'm l wondering about burning the dual layer disks tho...  U don't need anything special for that do you?

Yeah but the few tutorials I've checked out so far use Connectivity kits and probes and what have you. Would it be possible to just remove the drive and hook it up to my desktop computer or are those extra gadgets absolutely necessary?

For burning discs, it seems that Verbatim DVD+R seems to be the brand of choice for burning, and make sure to do it at a low speed to prevent errors. Apparently some of them require you to burn outside the standard capacity of a DVD as well, which isn't possible with all drives, but there is a freeware program that unlocks dvd capacity called Burnermax. This is only stuff I've read though, so I haven't tried it myself and cannot guarantee anything.

It looks like this game benefits from only installing the first disc on the HDD and play the 2nd disc directly. It streams from both HDD and disc at the same time, for a better streaming performance than streaming everything from the HDD.
