How far away are we from this??

I dont play games much these days so i dont know wtf is going on in that world....but i was just looking at some games on youtube and there trailers etc...
how far away in technology are we from playing a game that looks and reacts just like those cut screens in games and shit like that??some of these new games that come out have these cool looking movies and shit and when you start the game it turns into regular video game shit we have seen for years already..

as for your question, we're about as far away as you can imagine due to politics and big publishers only caring about standard formulas, money, and drms.

also, are you new to marketing? take rage, for example. on paper and in trailers and interviews and previews it was the most amazing thing ever in the history of games. it sounded like fallout 2 in first person. but the actual game was the most shitty thing ever made. well, maybe not the most, it had some nice scenery i suppose, but it was still shit.
