I'm running one of the FireTV boxes now as my primary and it's a terrific XBMC device. Highly recommend to anyone who's thinking about a standalone XBMC box.

More info please. Should I consider upgrading my flawlessly working Patriot Box Office (PBO) running alt firmware, which pulls media from my main PC?

I'm running it on my fire tv also. You don't void anything, it's just android, you're just allowing adb over network and side loading an apk file. Grinch, which version of xbmc/kodi are you using?

Xbmc is fun if you're bored. A TV pc is better.

Pretty sure I'm running Helix Alpha 3 (14.0)
Don't quote me on that though.

Ren-Hoek - This thing is like 4 generations more powerful than your Patriot box. It's a no brainer upgrade.

What plugins are you using that kick ass?

The only add on needed is Genesis.

My nexus player comes tomorrow.  I plan on loading up xbmc on it and using it as a media device.
You know your game is crap when people don't even bother pirating it.

I have an AC wireless router so wanted to go that way.  use the otg cable for more storage..  The 8gb that comes with it is pretty low.  So far it's pretty peppy.  Out of the box it's pretty limited though.  Not a lot of good apps..  But that's what sideloading is for...  Anything specific you wanted to know?  I might start sideloading emulators and xbmc on it tomorrow.

There was a dude on reddit who posted some feedback on the box with xbmc on it. I think I'll stick with the Amazon FTV boxes, at least until there's a proper root for the Nexus.

If you have another setup, then the nexus player doesn't bring anything extra or new to the table.  Before this I was just using a ps3, so the nexus player opens up a lot of options for me as a media player.
