Firefox has really gotten shit, Ive stopped using it.  I use chrome now.

Anyway, when I was using it I used a tool called MozBackup to save all my settings and favs in ff.

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

They are stored in their own proprietary files. If you re-install Windows or something you'll have to back those directories up.

Also, those are the Windows 7 directories. Not sure if you're using XP.

in the bookmarks popup window click export you can save them as regular html, or their own propietary files... .json i think? but anyway thats what you do. the file will be called bookmarks.html or .json.

yep, lets all move to chrome now and let Google know all the sites you frequent along all the searches you have done..

good job folks. some tech savvy forum here.

If you really want to move to chrome, find the open source one that removes these "features".

Nothing comes close to Firebug on Chrome (or any other browser than FF)...

You can turn those features off in Chrome.

I personally use Pale Moon, the lightweight version of Firefox. Works fast enough and have had no issues.

Firefox stores automatically a few (?) previous changes to the bookmarks, in addition of your own backups from the bookmarks. I had a problem when I tried to sync, I got blank bookmarks and thought the sync failed the update and cleaned up my bookmarks stored in their sync servers. The issue however solved by itself in a while, after my ISP problems were fixed... the sync just failed but the bookmarks remained good at the servers. I'm sorry but I don't have the links which were helpful for me to get my local bookmarks back. You can google them up quite easily.

I still use Firefox over any other browser, because of the plugins I use in Firefox. I tried Chrome few times, but never could live long without my favorite plugin, NoScript. I don't know if there is an equivalent?
