Can I ask though, why would you want to post a YouTube link without it being embedded? I honestly am curious.

You want to link to specific time with &t=xxmxxs, you want to make sure it's watched in HD with &hd=1, you post the video part of a longer post and you don't want the text being broken up by it and so on. This overly aggressive emedding is just a bad design in my opinion.

Now as a separate suggestion for the videos that do get embedded would it be possible that #ws would be added automatically at the end of the url? That makes the embedded window widescreen i.e. the same size it's on the youtube homepage. The default 4:3 box looks annoying to me.

Embedding only works if the link is in a separate line by itself.

Also, I set it to use HD where available. So if the video has an HD version it will try to choose that.

There's an option on youtube that will make it automatically play HD. Requires a youtube account and cookies enabled I think though.
