Board structure suggestion

I would like to give a sugestion about the gaming section of isoNEWS.

There's a PC section and a console section. I would suggest to take "PC Games" to the "Console Scene" section and rename that section simply "Gaming scene" and change "General Console Discussion" board to "General Game Discussion" or something. And then add "Vita" to the Sony board and "Wii U" to the Nintendo board.

What do you think?

Yeah that makes sense. I also suggest getting rid of retro gaming and smart shoppers cheapo depot. Also the NSFW section needs cleaning. Do we really need bodily egestion/beastiality/etc threads stickied?

I don't agree with that board suggestion. PC Gaming will stay PC Gaming but we have been considering just merging all three consoles into one forum. The reasoning behind this being that most games these days are multi-platform.

It's not like your parents are coming by for a visit and you need to hide your horrible, terrible shame or anything. Moving the future hardware deals into the existing hardware forum and just deleting that "Smart Shoppers..." wouldn't be a loss, but the retro section is still sort-of active.

I like the idea of a "Gaming Scene" and just combining all the console sections into one. It's not like the board is that active as to see it be confusing, and it'd give the appearance of being more active than it already is if a handful of posts were made in one sub-forum, rather than one in each existing one over the course however many months.

I didn't say to eliminate PC gaming, just putting it together in the same section as the other gaming platforms and change the general console gaming board to general game. There's no sense to have 2 or 3 separate threads about the same game, just because they are in different platforms (except when the game is different, like a DS version of a X360/PS3 game, of course). The Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo/PC boards would be for exclusives.

We're kind of struggling to agree on the structure of the console section. I agree that they don't get a tonne of traffic, and most games are multi-platform, but there is a lot of discussion about the actual hacking of consoles, hardware, and platform exclusives that makes me want to keep separate sections.

Why not have a section dedicated to the hacking-of-the-consoles, with all of the more important stuffs stickied at the top, and then another that has all the games in it, with tags on them that denote whether they're specific to one platform or multi-platform releases. Even if half the page on the hacking part is filled with stickied threads, there won't be so many new threads made that they'll get lost in a sea of pages.

I also would like to suggest deleting all the sticky posts in NSFW section as they are outdated and pointless, should be just one post there with possible rules, that section should get a proper clean start.

How about a Console Discussion Board, and a Console Releases Board.
Under the Discussion board, a child board for anything scene or hacking, and in the releases board, people need to tag each post with the appropriate system [X360]
, [PS3], [Wii], or whatever.
Not sure what to do with the mobile board though.

Otherwise, I can just bury the sub-boards under Console discussion as they are (separate Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony)

I'm not a big fan of the sub-forums in the console section. I think if we took Sabbath's idea and made one forum-category called "Gaming" and put PC, Console and Mobile forums under that and either merged the consoles into the Console forum or have the individual consoles under "Console" as sub-forums.

NSFW is a sub-forum of Off-Topic. I think it belongs there as it is basically off-topic chat for sick/perverted people.
