E3 2012
« on: June 03, 2012, 03:27:30 AM »
It's that time again. My body is definitely ready. This year's E3 should be better than last year's since the motion gaming crap seems to have lost its luster.

I mostly like the Japanese games. Metal Gear Rising and Ni No Kuni already have teaser trailers out and both look awesome. Hopefully FFVersusXIII will be at the show along with some new IPs.

I heard a rumor that the devs of Heavy Rain will have a new product on display. E3 is like Christmas morning. The stage is a Christmas tree and all the new trailers are the presents.

My hopes are slim to nil. Gaming has changed a great deal over the last ten years; namely, the market has been expanded greatly, and now the money made from selling to casual gamers is far greater than breaking into the hardcore market. So people who already dominated the hardcore market will continue releasing rehashes and sequels, while all the innovators will work on smaller, less ambitious titles that are suitable to younger and older audiences that can't handle more than 3 buttons.

Call me pessimistic, but I'm almost done with Max Payne 3 and it's a damn bore. Sticks heavily to the Rockstar formula, and to hell with whatever Remedy made ten years ago.

Why surprised, it looked like shit from the very beginning.

Wii U looks awesome to me. New ideas and HD graphics.

Perhaps a return to hardcore gaming.

An obvious mimic of the Xbox 360 controller, though that doesn't offend me in the slightest. What does worry me is that the face buttons are reversed: on the 360 controller, it's X-Y and A-B. Switching between the two might be a tad bit confusing!

Sad to see what's happened to Splinter Cell. The tactics in the game now basically consist of tagging a group of guys and then just hitting 'play' for them to be taken out by some pre-scripted moves....
