We used the official converter: it still had lots of bugs and it tripped over tons of database problems (encoding, typing, etc.), which all had to be fixed manually(*). This is what was taking weeks, not to mention each test run was taking about 12-16 hours.

So, how about everyone stops jumping to conclusions? ;D

(*) To give you a sense of perspective: it degraded into manually editing table types etc. to prevent crashes, for example

This might be over simplifying the problem and it's probably already been thought of but is it not possible to run an update query on the posts table to update the old user id of the missing account to the new user id of the newly created account?
