Thinking of getting a Native Instruments Maschine. My brother has one and I think the pads feel awesome. The workflow seems pretty amazing too. Honestly, it feels like the direction Akai should've taken with their MPCs.

tempted to get myself a launchpad as well. a whileback i was thinking about getting a maschine but i think the constant dubspot whoring of the product put me off. think i might get a launchpad and a new pair of sennheisers. dont know what to do yet tho :/

The Launchpad does seem pretty awesome. I don't use Ableton Live though. :-(

it's not ableton only, it's just a mini controller. my flatmate uses his to dj in traktor launching clips etc

yeah ive tried it, its great. if you want something for whacking beats, you might want an mpc or something but its got 64 buttons and costs less than £100, pretty impressive.

I'm a bit fussy about the feel of the pads. If they were, for an instance, like the pads of Maschine, I'd definitely get it.

ive started using studio one 2 more regularly and im hooked. i wont be using ableton anymore the audio engine is off the chain

hmmmmm....  I googled it and it looks interesting.  I'm getting it now and will give it a try.  I'm getting fed up with Ableton's random crashes anyways and the interface for Studio One looks pretty tight.

I've tried SO many times to use Ableton (most recent attempt was about a week ago) but it crashes way, WAY too much for me. A bunch of my friends use it and swear by it but its just as crashy for them too. Studio 1 is rock solid, it might not be quite as good for real time usage but if you're writing music then it'll bury Ableton. Another two easy to use DAWs would be FL studio and Reason, FL studio can do anything you want it to and real time features are being added to the most recent betas, Reason is a very closed program with almost no expansion/vst support but its pretty damn good.

something i usually like to do is set a loop going and add drums, then the bass etc. with ableton, you couldnt edit the midi that you just made unless you stopped recording/playback first. not the case with studio one!
something to be aware of, you only want to use the x64 version if you're using x64 vsts really, the x86 version will use both the x86 AND x64 audio engine, but the x64 application wont read 32bit plugins. for now im just sticking with the 32bit edition, which works great.
