I'm just glad well get Nintendo games in HD. I feel their games are superior. Best example is Metroid Prime which I think is the best FPS ever made. Zelda is the best adventure game and things like AC just try to imitate it. Mario is a genre in itself.

The screen on the controller will be interesting. It's what Sega wanted to do with the VMU in a way but couldn't do to hardware limitations at the time. Sports games are immediately improved because you don't have that annoying screen of plays pop up after every play. You have your plays on your Wii U. In basketball games you don't have to pull up a menu and hit a button to get a pick and roll. Just tap the wii U and Kwame Brown is at your service.

Role playing games don't need all these statistics and words all over the screen. Just check the wii U and you can tap your magic spell. No longer do you have to hit x 12,000 times to beat Final fantasy. Now you can just tap the wii u 12,000 times.

Or how about Valkyria Chronicles. Interesting strategy game. After your move you have to go back to your menu and choose the character you want to move. Now you can just tap the wii U.

It's gonna make gaming more seamless.

I think they did a poor job of showing what all it can do but that's because it's early in development ( a lot earlier than I expected). With the accelerometer, camera and gyroscope, the possibilities become endless.

Remeber Pokemon Snap on 64? Well how about a game like that that incorporates augmented reality. Move the Wii U to get the pokemon in the sight of your camera eye and then hit a button to snap.  That game was extremely fun with just a controller. With a Wii U it becomes an entire new experience.

Also the playing with the TV off may seem useless to some of us but you have to think of  more scenarios. Let's say you're playing Final Fantasy and you haven't yet reached a save point but a sports game you want to watch is just starting. Turn your sports game on and get to the save point from your Wii U.

I really like it and think it can revolutionize gaming.

Wow,

I can picture a bunch of team games with with the new controller.

For example,

Person A is driving a tank using a wiimote/nunchuck on the main television

Person B: Gunner using the new controller shooting at troops around the tank and calling out opposing tank positions for A.

The WiiU game videos were from the X360/PS3 versions: http://www.dailytech.com/Wii+U+Announcement+Actually+Featured+Xbox+360PS3+Game+Footage/article21851.htm

So lol.

Some of them were. Just like PS3 and 360 games shown before launch were running on PC hardware. It happens, *shrug*.

One controler per console. That's a little bit contrary to multiplayer/family oriented entertainment Nintendo aimed for since ever.

Also, Wii U probably won't be superior than X360 and PS3, so that means that when the next gen arrives, Wii U will already be old, surpassed. Just like Wii is. And this time, they don't have that motion control gimmick to compensate that. They have nothing truly new, original or that really adds entertainment value.

Well, the wii controllers will still work, and hopefully the gamecube ones, so it's not quite 'one controller.'

The rest is just speculation on your part. It could be many times superior to the 360 and PS3 for all we know (and all we know is that the IBM chip is based on the same architecture as Watson.

Wii U?
PS Vita (which btw is Vista sans the 's')?

Those are some fruity names indeed. What ever happened to cool names like Dreamcast, Super Famicom, Nintendo 64 or Atari VCS 2600?

Yep but I broke my gamepad in a fit of rage with mario kart.

I tried fixing it with a replacement screen but there are a couple of miniscule ribbon connectors that came off and I dont have the visual acumen to see to such a zoomed in level, nor the manual dexterity - even with tweezers - to get the fucking things back in place.

FML.

Goddamn, that's harsh. But also kind of hilarious -- Mario Kart, of all games! Still so frustrating after all these years.

Well if you or anyone else gets their Wii U back up and running, my Nintendo ID is Avolate.
