seems nintendo didnt care about piracy on the 3ds (it still sells really well) or it would be too much trouble getting it to work and not break compatibility with older DS games

i think they simply didn't want to invest the money into it and i don't blame them. look at how much sony has wasted on security and now many can steal every single ps3 game ever made and still get online.

its a real catch-22. They may lose some money on piracy but fighting piracy and not winning will cause them to lose even more money.
Anyway this is good news, I intend to buy a 3DS shortly after it is confirmed that carts work on the US version.

Well, in Sony's defense, it took over four years for the PS3 to get cracked. Before all of these recent developments, security was airtight. I'm sure all the money they invested in locking it down for as long as it did was worth it.

The only other console that I can remember staving off piracy long into the console's life was the Gamecube. It did eventually get hacked to shit though.
