Wow Relux, nice post .. I have to say I'm a bit tired of zombies, but this show worked for me. It was pretty sad and emotional in the middle, and then had the more humorous ending which I liked. I kept thinking about the damn hospital bed though, he had not taken a shit nor a piss it seemed like. But I do love the idea of waking up and everything around being changed, that's a really cool idea.

The first scene with the zombie girl is supposed to be all shocking and funny or whatever, but tbh I found it cheesy and it didn't strike me the way I presume the director wanted it to. I do appreciate all the apocalyptic scenery though. Too early to make a definitive opinion, but I'll at least continue to watch it, so it has my interest.

Yep I'm hooked.. My biggest concern initially was "gore levels" and "lack of power, gas, basic sh*t" which the likes of ZombieLand treated as being arcadish. Not so here: tons of gore, no power, limited resources.. raw Zombie Apocalypse goodness. The Hospital part near the beginning was erie -- well done! Of course very "28days later" but thats ok. MORE MORE damn it! Power to the Undead Hordes!!

Yeah I found it real watchable. I'm in for the first few to see what happens next, and if the show pans out or loses steam.

Haven't watched this yet, but I've read all the comics as I mentioned before. If you found any of this emotionally moving or disturbing, wait until you get further in. There's some parts that are (in the comic at least) just totally gut wrenching. One that stands out for me is a proposed marriage arrangement that's... non-traditional... but it shows how lonely and sad some of the survivors are.
I'll keep pratce

Totally agree, I felt bad for them between the black dude's zombie wife in his crosshairs and the cop not knowing what happened to his family and going back to kill that crawling zombie woman who could very well be the same shape of his wife or kid. Still, throughout this show's awesomeness I looked for any sign of how long he was unconscious. I figured 3 weeks judging by his beard even though at times his neck was shaved just 2 days ago, and the black guy said power went out a month ago. But the hospital looked secure with the zombies blocked in the one hallway, bodies bagged outside appearing to be 2 weeks into decomposition, next door there were helicopters and humvees so zombies were held back longer than residential i presume, and of course the cop didn't become a zombie meal after being abandoned. Poor bastard got ditched by the hospital. So yea, probably best to ignore the realism of laying in bed without sustenance when watching a show about zombies. Who knows, maybe some staff stayed until very recently and only left when it seemed useless.

Yea those were my concerns too but so far this is a great representation of what a zombie apocalypse would be like. I loved the mood throughout the show, and I already care about the characters.

One thing though, was the cop's partner kissing his wife? The scene after the partner kisses the woman the cop is looking at a family photo and his wife and son looked like the ones in the tent scene. It was fast and it hit me after the photo was put away. It better not be, fuckin whore.

I paused and rewound like 5 times there trying to decide. I thought either it is - and BOOOO! if it is, or whoever hired the actors needs to be fired for allowing the actors who played the two sets (mother and son) to look so similar.

At the outset the main character was telling his cop buddy that he and his wife were having some issues, maybe she had been cheating all along.

You do know it was the cop buddy she was kissing, yeah? And yes, it is the wife. They both probably think he died in the hospital.

I liked the first episode. I'll watch the making of that was leaked too.

Besides the whole zombie concept and how did he manage to survive in near coma with no food in the hospital, there was nothing else I could point as obviously wrong or stupid.

BTW, for the guy that wondered if he shouldn't have pissed and shit the bed... If he didn't eat anything and was starting to dehydrate, there was nothing to come out of his body.

About the wife thing... I would also bet that she ad something going on with his partner...

I don't want to look too far into it, but I like to think that he was still cared for in the hospital. In most circumstances the dead flowers means he was unattended for weeks, but I'm sure watering or binning flowers is the last thing on anyone's mind during a zombie apocalypse!

Also if you read the comic, you'd know that the wife and son are indeed at that caravan site. The wife is the actress who played the hot doctor in Prison Break BTW.

I'm actually amazed how much this first episode stuck to the first issue of the comic - almost entirely apart from the opening scene, and where the black dude was having some target practice as far as I can remember.

Brilliant stuff, I'm so pissed it's only 6 episodes long though

On August 31, 2010, Darabont reported that The Walking Dead had been picked up for a second season, with production to begin in February 2011. However, AMC wants "to dispel the rumor that The Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 2, as that is not the case yet." In addition to the rumor, according to producer Gale Anne Hurd, all future seasons will be thirteen episodes long. Darabont, who wrote and directed the pilot, spoke of his plans to introduce fan favorite Michonne early on in the second season's run. He would also like to include some of the "environmental elements" that take place during Volume 2 of Kirkman's book.

^ Ah yea, already knew that, but I mean... I've waited so long for this to start and now these 6 episodes will fly by in no time

But... hopefully season two is pushed forward to a summer '11 release if production starts in February :)
