Argh... So many cards for DSI XL, which one to get?
« on: June 24, 2010, 02:01:28 PM »
I am going to buy a DSI XL soon, cause I am going on vacation (long flight) and need to do something while we are up in the air.

I thought it would be easy; just pick a card and get started. How ever there seems to be many cards around now. And I really don't know which ones are the best.

The cards I have found so far:

- R4i Ultra SDHC
- M3i Zero
- Acekard 2i
- R4i SDHC
- Iplayer DS
- R4i Gold
- R4i Red SDHC
- DSTTI DSI

Which card is highly recommended? And do they all play NTSC/PAL games?

...oh and one more question. Do the games still need to be patched or something?

Thanks in advance...

You forgot the best card:

- Supercard DSTwo

High compatibility
Frequent updates
Allows direct GBA emulation (and soon SNES too)
Allows Real Time Saving
It circunvents (or claims to) all anti-piracy protection, so you don't need to wait for cracks/patches for released ROMs.
And other features... Google about it.

Yeah, I read about that card.

But not very positive: http://gbatemp.net/t232281-supercard-dstwo-review

Some roms don't work.

I am thinking about getting the R4i Ultra SDHC, however I will do some more research...

What do you mean? NDS ROM compatibility is excelent. If you're talking about GBA ROMs, just consider that you can't play them in any other flashcard (except the iPlayer, which is from the same team).

I've been using one for a month, and never found compatibility issues.

But if you want something cheaper, go for the Acekard. Never a R4, whatever variation.
