Whether that be a Pen drive or USB external hard drive. Some incompatiblity issues with a few drives but this program is amazing.

Rip Wii games from the actual drive and each game took me on average 10 min. with dual layer brawl taking a little over an hour.

Wiki for working, semi-working, and non-working drives:

I'll give it a shot!

Will any external USB drive do?

Thanks!

check the wiki he posted for the compatibility list. i couldn't get any of my thumb drives to do it, but all my SD card readers were able too easily.

I had an issue with my old Lacie Porsche 80GB USB HDD not being recognized (it has a WD 800 on the inside which should be compatible); I simply inserted my 8GB HP pen drive and when asked if I wanted to format it I swapped it for the HDD.
Works like a charm.
BTW, I think USB Loader GX is better; I installed it as a channel and I can even patch games for error 002 (like Wii Sports Resort) that were giving me problems.

Using a 500 gig seagate with external case and USB Loader GX.
works pretty good.  I transferred around 53 games and it only took around 130 gigs.  Nice. Ohh and like Fracicone said.  Ican patch gmes for the 002 error, quick launch and the game videos dont stutter when played.

I have been reading rumors that the New Super Mario Bros Wii has a check built-in to see if it's being loaded from USB, dunno if it will brick your unit or anything, watch out.

It's fixed if you download a fixed iso or fix it yourself.  And all it does is reset the wii after 5-10 min of playing, no hard done anyway.  With the fix it works fine.

I finally took the weekend and in two days managed to softmod my Wii and now I can play games of my USB HDD!! - it was hard and took a bit of reading but I'm finally there and Boy, is that a joy!

So I'm busy going over 3 years of games I missed, any suggestions for the top 10 'must play' Wii games of all times? I covered all the mario, etc

Thanks!

So how difficult did you find it to softmod it?    Scale of 1-10 where 10 is too damn difficult to bother.

I mean everything including figuring out what softmod to use, how to do it, finding said softmod, all the way to playing your first wii game.

In retrospect I'd say 5?

All you need is this guide:
http://wehackwii.pbworks.com/USB-Loader

They also have a helpful chat room

and to understand you'll need a wbfs manager like 'Wii Backup manager' (google it) and to gets usbGX running properly plus an SD card (2GB-ish) and an external USB - That's it you're off to the races...

So far I tries 10 PAL iso's and they're all working like a dream (including the guitar hero likes)

Really gave the console a new lease on life!

out of curiosity, PAL isos?   Do they flicker at 50hz too?

I think at 200 bucks I might be tempted to pony up for a Wii, if anything just to keep the wife entertained while I work :D

I haven't seen any flickering but I have a 100hz CRT TV so who knows....
