Man there's dozens of games I'd like to see being remade ... and yet ... I wouldn't.
The industry at the moment suffers from a lack of style in their games. Few games really have an unique look and seem to go for plain boring realism. In a way I prefer the style of Vice City over the bleak and brown GTA IV look. No, Vice City doesn't look real, that's the point. It's over the top and that's why I love it.
So if a standard developer would remake any of these games, they're very likely to make the same mistake: they'd badly translate the wonderful art and design from the originals.
Take Little Big Adventure: it was a mix of pre-rendered backdrops and simplistic 3D and it worked amazingly well! LBA2 already looked a great deal worse because the outside sections were pure 3D and ... ugly as sin. Now imagine LBA being remade today: I seriously doubt it would ever come close the original feeling of the first game which was what made me love it!
