Now, I can't say I've actually listened to all these new albums, but some additional 2004 metal releases include:

Damageplan - New Found Power
Kittie - Until the End
Motorhead - Inferno
W.A.S.P. - The Neon God

I've appreciated this thread so far, hopefully your definition of metal isn't too terribly far off from mine.

Im not sure what the uproar was about Damageplan, and if you have seen my sig, i like Dimebag Darrel, and this band still was totally uninteresting to me...

i have to agree, Damageplan was a mediocre metal band at best.

I don't know either. I'm too old to enjoy much of the thrash that I wasn't 14 when I heard. I guess I misread the topic as a "What other metal releases came out in 2004?" versus the "What were notable metal releases in 2004" that it was supposed to be. I had a feeling I should just keep quiet.

Anyway. I am enjoying hearing of these newer releases and then sampling them to see where the genre has gone.

Good thread, keep it up!

Everyone seems to be blown away by these guys, and i dont get it, there music is average at best, and i saw them at the headbangers ball tour and the show was nothing special. They arent a bad band, i just cant figure out how they are the second coming to some people, can someone enlighten me on this one?

There's nothing to "enlighten". They're overrated, that's all there is to it.

I saw them twice live and they completely tore shit up man, they played afer Killswitch Engage and Unearth, and they made them look like garage bands dude, they were absolutely tight and did not miss a single note I was in complete awwww (maybe it was the weed tho haha, smoked one just before there set). I dunno music is a matter of taste for sure (i thought the Megadeth cd was awful, and metal bands should never have a synth player cause its sounds gay IMO), and being a guitar player myself I just love their style, and it fits my style too perfectly I love playing some LOG \m/ it sounds kickass. I dont think there overated at all these guys are fuckin good, sure there are bands out there like Necrophagist where the guitars players are fuckin awesome even better then LOG's but maybe its cause they are  more listenable then those Death metal vomit singing bands which I like to but when the singer sings I like hes vomitting I just tend to listen to the instruments and I almost dont hear the singer, LOG is just a good mix of everything I dunno there just my favorite band ever. Oh and oops for that Textures CD, thought it was a 2004 release my bad. Now ill go check out some release on this thread I missed this year thx everybody.

Psyopus - Ideas of Reference
Machinist - Machinist ep
