Well, sorry for not writing a FL on par with your standards. This is my second one I do so I's still getting into the grove of things. Any pointers of what you missed would be helpful. Possitive critisism can be used to evolve. Just critisism doesn't do much.

Trouduc: When I wrote the review I was about half-way through the game and remebered reading about these locations on hl2 specific pages. So I excpected them to be in there. My bad ;)

Finally a better score for this game.. especially for the graphic section ... Personally .. i give a 8/10 for the graphic, just go play Far Cry and Doom3 and feel what is a game with 'ambience'.

HL2 is 1 year too late ...

Graphics are nice.  Characters look good too. BUT....

No head bob when you walk or run?  Feels like I'm rolling, not walking.  This should've been really easy to implement.

Way too linear.  Just provide me a chock line to follow, cause there's no freedom of movement here.

Gameplay 9/10?  I'd say 7 max.  If there was more freedom to explore, I'd score it higher.

Compared to Far Cry...
Even though the gameplay in Far Cry is also linear, it doesn't force you to walk through a linear maze.  It gives you some freedom to move about.

Just my $0.02

Ok...While I agree more with the scores in this FL, in the end...it is a horrible...HORRIBLE FL.  It took me awhile to figure out wtf you were trying to say in a couple parts... You obviously hadn't finished the game, or really gotten very deep into it for that matter and it showed.  While I in no way believe that this is a perfect game, or game of the year, or best game ever made...it was a fun game... But far too linear...and really... it was the same gameplay as Doom3...just the environments were more open... Sure there weren't keycards, but its all the same.

Best and most informative fl I ever read. It is really nice to hear a programer's point of view instead of the children point of view that is so often seen here....

Requiem was probably just joking. He really has no right saying that anyway, having written the FL he did and giving the game 50/50 points.

The FL was ok. It was clear you hadn't finished the game, if not for the early screenshots but also for the content description. There's a level of standard you have to live up to when writing about such a hyped game. You're sure to get opposition from someone. This is one reason I'm not gonna write an FL about HL2. Plus I don't think I'm even qualified to do so, not having played the original HL through.

You also dwelled a bit too much on details. The copy pasted system info was a bit much. An FL should just be a brief overview with some lines of insight and humour mixed into it.

No, I was not joking, why the hell would I be joking? The content of this firstlook was simply laughable. Bad spelling, english, grammar, syntax, misuse of words, copy/pasted PR material, and an obvious lack of even playing the game longer then 30 minutes all combine to form something so bad, it just might have been written by someone with no grasp of English or computer gaming.
