I was going to say Duke3d but the guy above reminded me of Modem Wars.. had to check a screenshot to make sure it was the right game.  I played the DOS version and I'm not really sure if I even knew how to play it very well.

Played a Combat clone on an old Atari 400. Now that was a great game. Slow as hell but man oh man was it cool to be able to beat my brother at something.

STADIUM, DAMNIT, IT'S CALLED STADIUM!

I remember after a while we outlawed using pistols on that map because they were so fucking cheap (since the game would automatically auto-aim them to be deadly accurate).

Also a few other classic MP games...

Winter Games, Summer Games, World Games, Lotus Turbo Challenge (all three), Dogs of War, IK+, Silkworm (WOW, that game rocked...)

Hmmm, that's a tough one. I think it was Bomberman for the Turbo GraphX 16 though. I played so many games with my brother that I just can't recall for certain. Remember in Double Dragon if you accidentally hit the other player, it was only fair that he hit you for the same amount of damage in return? It was completely unconstructive considering you both shared the same credits.

Golden axe! damn it rules ;p
Ahh.. and ofcourse who can forget about Star Control & Star Control II. I can't remember if SC II had multi or not tho :(

Oww owww.. scorched earth too

Then there was this other tank game also, but I can't remember the name =( You were supposed to destroy the other player, but you could also destroy buildings and stuff. The view was from straight up. Old game.. I remember playing it on a 286 laptop at my friend's place :p

edit: First network game played was Doom. After that there's been so many great games :) Shadow warrior, duke3d, blood etc etc etc.
Q. What is a \"sea goat\"?

A. Unfortunately, no one can be...told what the seagoat is. You have to see it for yourself.

agh.. how can I forget to add Ski or Die to my list :p not to mention the winter / summer games. I don't think you could play ski or die multiplayer tho (maybe snowboarding + stunt mode)
