Well what was it?

I first played tic tac toe on a BBS back in ~93-94 with my r33t 2.4k modem then my first "real game" came a few months later with Retaliator on a ptp(IPX?) connection

Do console games count?
Otherwise, I can't think of anything before warcraft.

There was a C64 game called Modem Wars that came out in 1988. It's certainly not the first (real-time) multi-player game ever, but I fondly remember playing it when I was like 7 years old.

Im sure net-trek was a pretty early multiplayer game.. used to play that at uni. First games I really played loads on multi (on my PC anyway) were Duke Nukem, Blood (GREAT multiplayer on that) Quake, and command and conquer.
Well Now,
Your Kung-Fu is not any good.
