You'll love it. The only ones that seem find it disappointing are the liberal douchebags that get offended by a 13-year old using guns and saying "cunt".
If I had one gripe, it'd be that Hit Girl/Big Daddy didn't get enough screen time. And it's essentially two different movies - the PG Kick-Ass/Red Mist storyline (which tends to drag on a little) and the adult Hit Girl/Big Daddy one (which doesn't).

I just saw Kick-Ass, what a disappointment it was. It doesn't live up to it's hype. I'll cut this movie in two parts, "kick-ass" and "hit-girl", so I won't do one of the best things created in Hollywood injustice.
First the crappy part, the major part, the part that gave the movie it's name, "Kick-Ass". Crappy teen drama, doofus wannabee superhero parts with childish humor, boredom. That's what I thought when I was watching most of the movie, crappy movie trying to be silly and fun. Which it failed.
But then, sha-bam the "Hit-Girl" parts. Pure brilliance. Brilliant actress, great action scenes, fun every second and the girl is simply raw. Hit-girl is one of the greatest things created in Hollywood (yes I know it's based on a comic).
So, Kick-ass part gets a 4/10 for being boring and completely uninsteresting. The Hit-girl/Big daddy parts get a 9.5/10, for being brilliant. The movie itself I can't give more than a 6/10 for being enjoyable but ruined by the the Kick-Ass character. I can only imagine how great this movie would've been if it was about Hit-Girl, would've been an instant cult classic. What a fucking shame.

I fully agree. I loved it but I still wanted it to be even more gritty and raw and have less comedy than it did. Furthermore I hate the fact that it shows bloody violence but it cant show the titties of a super hot 18 year old bitch. I really wanted it to go all the way but it was held back somehow.
Still, very enjoyable movie and I don't regret paying full price to see it. Favorite scene is the big daddy / hit girl scene where she's learning how to take a shot to the chest.

The movie was amusing and occasionally entertaining, but I'll never want to see it again. A lot of its laughs will fall on deaf ears a generation from now -- this film is far too contextual to today.
That said, though, a lot of the pop culture referneces are fun. The ending line? A reference to the first Tim Burton Batman! did anyone else catch it?
Anywho, gave it 3/5. |

The parking lot he gets stabbed in is behind my buddy's office building he owns. They're actually in that lot like 3 or 4 times during the filming it looks like.
This felt like Defendor, but with a bigger budget. Even then it felt sort of done on the cheap. Lots of generic location shots, lots of dark lighting to compensate.
Story and plot wise, sorta meh, again, having just watched Defendor it felt like this was a slog to sit through.
Some of the fight choreography was solid though.

A lot of it is here in Canada, and then a few scenes in NYC.

There's only one graphic novel as far as I know.
Maybe, just like for Wanted, Mark Millar will sell out and make a sequel in the form of a movie.
I'm happy Warner Bros didn't pick up his 9-hour Superman epic awhile back.
