http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1533084/

Quote:

it was decent but i guess you guys hyped it up too much for me, i was expecting something a bit more.

worth watching but its not on the level of the better movies that it was compared to (eternal sunshine; the fountain; solaris; amelie; donnie darko; etc.--these are all better movies IMHO)

I've watched at least Eternal Sunshine and Donnie Darko and I'd say this is pretty close. Maybe not quite there, but pretty darn close to either of those two.

If you don't want the festival release with CBR from iLG, you can get the R5 from FiCO

Mr.Nobody.2009.R5.DVDR-FiCODVDR

From what I understand, it has 5.1 retail audio as opposed to linedubbed crap.

The iLG release's specs:

Codec: XVID
Bitrate: 1013
Resolution: 640x272
Audio: 48000, 448 (6 ch), ac3 cbr
Length: 134mins
Fps: 25.000

This was released on the same day as that p2p release of yours, but was nuked for CBR. Maybe the Rx release does have VBR but we'll never know as they don't even list that in their nfo.

The R5 release I mentioned later is a DVDR not an XviD.

...and that's wtf we are talking about exactly.

The release david5182 is mentioning a couple of posts above is dandy. I'm kind of new here so I don't know the actual rules of this game court. However, Google on the rls yield tons of torrent/filehost links, but Imma leave those results up to you.

However. Anyone intermediate/advanced when it comes to film and frame rates? I'm intermediate myself, and I find this particular rls kind of confusing. It's 24.000 fps, instead of the -- traditional -- 23.976 which original 24p film are usually slowed down to (for easy pulldown measures to produce the kind of NTSC 29.97 fps DVD's or BluRay's, like this one rls obviously originated from).

So, what's up with the 24.000 fps? Will this rls be nuked?
This are the sort of trifles that amuses me in life.
You could almost say, it's these sort of things that makes me "tick" Smile

I'll be sincerely thankful for serious discussion/answers.
If AEN encoders could step forward, it would be a thrill! Very Happy

Anyways, what's up with the movie?
Rumor has it it's brilliant!

I don't get how the movie's being released now since they said it was released last year in North America and other places...but anyway, here's what I thought of it:

Possible Spoilers Ahead

Great directing and shooting. It's shot in very artistic ways to portray certain emotions, like how in some lives the main character doesn't quite know what lies ahead or where he wants to go, so he's in focus but everything else is super blurry in the distance.

I love the idea of exploring multiple time lines or lives and imagining what could have happened if just one little thing was done differently. Very cool.

Obviously, the end is weird and doesn't really make sense since the director really just wanted to focus on presenting this kid faced with an impossible choice (which parent to pick - although since the mother cheated, I'd have picked the father) and how his life would have panned out based on his choice.

Personally, I think any choice that involved that beautiful brunette was the right one! She was the only nice, normal girl and her "teenager" version looks so beautiful as a brunette (I saw the actress as a blonde with curly hair and she does nothing for me) - call me in a few years!

This was one of those movies that I wanted to know more about after I finished watching it (Audition was another) so I looked up interviews with the (French) director and he sounds really cool. He just wanted to show these multiple time lines and butterfly effects in a beautiful, meaningful way without necessarily having a normal ending. It's just to show that ALL choices are "the right choice"...they just lead to different outcomes, none of which are "wrong", they're just "normal". It's life, and it's great.

I enjoyed this movie and as someone who's filming more and more, I think there's a lot to learn from this movie just in terms of cinematography.

Brilliant movie; I am not a religious person at all (100% Atheist in fact), so I was kinda afraid that they'd turn it into some kinda afterlife bullshit but thank God they went the scientific way.

Tried too hard to be an artsy fartsy film, but it was decent.

I hated Eternal Sunshine (someone compared the two) but Jared Leto is great. Big 30 seconds to Mars fan too, so I'll check it out.

Too artsy without any clear direction or idea. Trying to be different alone does not make a brilliant movie. Still a must watch for a movie lover for some beatiful scenes.
